TripREC Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 10, 2026
This policy explains how the paid TripREC app handles information related to dashcam recordings, routes, system exports, and user support. TripREC does not include advertising SDKs and does not use data for tracking.
Video, audio, and routes
TripREC uses the camera to record video and uses the microphone when the user enables audio recording. The app uses device location to record routes, speed, and distance, and may use Apple Maps and geocoding services to display maps and place information.
Video, audio, routes, and related records are stored in the app container on the user's device. TripREC does not operate its own server for uploading or synchronizing this content. When the user deletes a record or uninstalls the app, the corresponding app data on the device is removed according to iOS behavior. Copies that the user saves to Photos or shares with another app are outside TripREC's control.
Apple Maps, geocoding, Photos, iCloud, or other apps selected by the user may process data under their own privacy policies.
Saving, sharing, and device file sharing
When the user selects “Save Video to Photos,” TripREC requests add-only Photos access and writes the selected recording to the device's photo library. TripREC does not read other photos or videos in the library.
When the user selects “Open in Another App,” TripREC uses the iOS system share sheet. A copy of the video is provided to another app only after the user selects a destination. The destination app handles the copy under its own policy.
When the user connects a trusted computer and uses iOS device file sharing, the user can view and manage TripREC's Documents directory, including copying, adding, or deleting video files. Copies moved to a computer or another location are outside TripREC's control.
None of these features uploads video to a server operated by TripREC.
User support email
When the user opens the in-app contact option and sends an email, the message may include the user's email address, text or attachments supplied by the user, and the app version, device model, and iOS version prefilled by the app.
This information is used only to respond to and resolve user support requests. It is not used for advertising, marketing, analytics, tracking, or data brokerage. We do not intentionally provide it to other recipients except service providers required to send, transmit, and host email. Access to the support mailbox is limited to TripREC user support personnel.
Support email is retained for 180 days after the issue is closed and is then deleted, unless continued retention is required by law. Users may request access to or deletion of their support email through the same support address.
The email provider selected by the user also processes messages under its own terms and privacy policy.
Privacy choices
- Manage Camera, Microphone, Location, and Photos permissions in iOS Settings.
- Delete video and route records in the app.
- Use device file sharing on a trusted computer to copy, add, or delete files in the app's Documents directory.
- Use the in-app contact option or the email address below to request access to or deletion of support email.
Some features will not work when the corresponding permission is disabled. Withdrawing permission does not automatically delete copies already saved to Photos, shared with another app, copied to a computer, or sent through an email provider.
Changes to this policy
If data handling, third-party SDKs, product features, or legal requirements change, we will update this policy and its effective date. Material changes will be disclosed before the corresponding app version is released.
