TripREC Recording FAQ
Understand the recording state and limits before choosing your setup. These answers cover TripREC and do not promise continuous recording on every device or in every environment.
Updated
Does dimmed-screen recording mean recording while locked?
No. TripREC dims its screen inside the app while keeping recording status, elapsed time and the clock visible. This is not locking the iPhone with its power button or running the app in the background. Keep TripREC in the foreground when recording and check its status while parked.

What happens with navigation, calls or screen lock?
Backgrounding the app or a system interruption can pause or stop capture. TripREC attempts to recover after unexpected interruptions, but it cannot guarantee gap-free recording or recover frames that were never captured. Check the recording state after returning to the app and check files after parking. Test music, calls and navigation combinations on your own device first.
What should I do if my phone heats up while recording?
Camera recording, charging, screen use and ambient temperature all affect the phone's workload. Overheating alerts indicate a risk; they are not a temperature or battery-life guarantee. Avoid direct sunlight and adjust quality, pause use or allow the device to cool as needed. Do not change settings while driving. We do not yet publish results by device, temperature and recording duration.
Does loop recording keep every clip?
No. It replaces older clips after the selected retention period to help manage storage. The paid app includes loop recording. Lite offers 24 hours of access after watching an ad, or you can review its in-app Full Version option. Export clips you need to retain, and check free storage.
Will automatic impact saving capture every incident?
No. The paid app and Lite's Full Version offer automatic impact saving, but detection and recording have limits. Interruptions, device placement or a detection that never triggers can leave gaps. It is not a promise that every incident will be recorded.
How do I keep or share a recording?
Select a recording in the trip list, confirm playback, then save it to Photos or export it to another app. Saving to Photos requires add-only Photos permission. Exported copies are managed by Photos or your chosen app; deleting a TripREC record does not delete those copies.
Are recordings uploaded? Is any data collected?
TripREC does not operate a server to upload or synchronize video, audio or routes; this content stays on your device. Photos, iCloud, maps and other apps you choose may process data under their own policies. The app has default-on Firebase Crashlytics diagnostic reporting that you can disable; Lite also has advertising-related processing. Local recording does not mean zero data collection.
Where do I check requirements and prices?
TripREC requires iOS 16 or later. Available quality and lenses depend on the device. Check your local App Store for prices and in-app purchase details. See the edition comparison for the free and paid differences.
